NORIAN VAYLE
Therys was not born from a single idea.
It wasn't created in an afternoon, nor did it begin the day I decided to write a fantasy novel.
For more than twenty years, I have played tabletop roleplaying games with the same group of friends. Over those years, we traveled through countless worlds, brought hundreds of characters to life, and shared more stories than I could ever remember. Some heroes became legends around our table. Some decisions were still being discussed years later. And some moments remain just as vivid today as when they first happened.
My journey began with the Hungarian roleplaying game M.A.G.U.S., a world that had a profound influence on how I think about fantasy, storytelling, and worldbuilding. Over the years, many other worlds and systems inspired me as well, but the most important part was always the same: the stories we created together.
As time passed, I found myself returning to the same thought again and again. What if all those years of ideas, adventures, emotions, and unforgettable moments could become something of my own? Not simply another fantasy setting, but a world shaped by everything I had learned about storytelling over two decades.
That is how Therys was born.
A world built on hope and loss. On loyalty and betrayal. On the choices that change people, and the relationships that help them endure even the darkest of times.
The stories told within these books are fictional, but the emotions behind them are very real. Perhaps that is why Therys has always felt like more than just another fantasy world to me.
It feels like the result of a journey that began many years ago, around a table surrounded by friends, long before any of us realized where those stories would eventually lead.
Why This World Had To Be Written
Long before Therys existed, there were countless other worlds.
For more than twenty years, I explored fantasy through tabletop roleplaying games. Worlds filled with heroes, kingdoms, mysteries, and adventures. Some of those stories lasted for a single evening. Others stayed with me for years.
What fascinated me was never the rules or the dice themselves. It was the stories. The friendships built around a table. The unforgettable characters. The moments nobody planned, yet everyone remembered long afterward.Over time, I began to wonder what kind of world I would create if I could build one entirely from my own imagination.
Not a copy of the worlds I loved, but something new. A place shaped by everything those years had taught me about storytelling, friendship, hope, sacrifice, and the people who carry those stories with them. That question eventually became Therys.Writing these books was my way of taking decades of inspiration, memories, and experiences and transforming them into something entirely my own. A world where new stories could begin.Because some stories are too important to remain only around a gaming table. They deserve the chance to find new readers, new dreamers, and a life of their own.
Every world begins with a single step.
